Information Week 18/19
Dear Parents,
The children are back to a normal school week. It is warmer and the children are in better spirits too.

The Class
The children have a habit of talking. A few
children are respectful and take responsibility for their work. Some want to engage
into arguments whenever they are asked to stay focusing and some get to the
defensive to their parents that I “pick on” their children. I am still
appealing to willing parents to assist remembering that to have a calm working
atmosphere reduces stress for all children. There are some children who stick
out when it comes to the noise making in the class. I have contacted parents
who have cooperated and their children are in focus. Some who have decided that
I pick on their children are still letting their children create havoc for
other children in the class room.
I normally refrain from contacting parents since
I can handle children. I only contact parents when it gets out of hand.
Natural Sciences
The children were exposed to current developments in transport and in development of automobiles for blind people including self driven vehicles. They watched a model bird that was able to fly using powerful ultra light and aerodynamic qualities which could make it autofly by flapping its wings. They also observed the possibility of building vehicles for people with impaired visions first by building a robotic car that could drive itself and later developing a real car for the blind through integrating perception, computation and non-visual interfaces into a technological reality in order to create a real self driven car.

They have prepared for the show stopper
experiment i.e constructing a model car using both elasticity and wind
power by connecting a propeller).
Mathematics
The Mathematics test has been done. The children (of course with the supervision of the parents) who went through the mileage of being update with the work had the possibility of retaining the knowledge for memory. Mathematics at elementary school level is like a marathon, you have to stay on track and take the extra mile. The children who can put up with it retain the basic skills with ease. Those who skip the basics may have it hard retaining the knowledge even though it is repetitive sometimes. For having been on for almost a quarter of a century now I am still quite certain of my theory that repetition automizes knowledge which is to stay in the bone marrow. All the children may pass this test even though it was a long test. We will work on more advanced fractions and revise skills that need to be polished. Division and Multiplication was a problem for many. Identification of simple geometrical objects did not work either. Some children are still working with Time and Fractions. The update children are doing Geometry.

. Medeltidsmuseet

Dear 4B Parents!
Re: Candle Fundraiser
The 4B Class Parents Committee is off to a glowing start. We have decided on organizing a candle fundraiser. The quality hand-dipped candles from Ljusmannen should be a hot item to sell over the coming weeks and if all goes as planned we expect to turn a good profit to go towards the class pot. We believe that we can sell 20 boxes per child but we will divide this up into two installments, and begin by ordering 10 boxes per child.
What: We will go with the suggested retail price of 110 SEK per box. The majority of the boxes will have classic white candles but we also plan to order some boxes of red. Depending on the marketing material we receive and feedback, we might be open to accepting orders for other colors that would be then delivered in the 2nd installment.
When: Charles Gill is scheduled to present the fundraiser to the kids at school on Tuesday, October 10th. The candles should arrive as early as next week, perhaps by Thursday, October 12th.
Where: Anna Hahne has offered her home as a pick-up depot as she lives very close to the school. When the candles are ready we’ll communicate the address and you can coordinate with Anna for pick-up (or drone delivery)
Payments: It looks like that we’ll use one Swish number as the primary payment method. It’s important that the purchaser note the name of the child in the Swish payment, or that the parent consolidates the payments and forwards the sum amount to the class account (via Swish or bank transfer).
Orders: We aim to place our 2nd installment order as soon as possible and for this it would be helpful with feedback continuously or at least before höstlov.
Communication: We will likely create a FB page at the appropriate time so that parents have the option to Like/Share with FB friends and family and alert them of the ongoing fundraiser. This would be communicated through the existing FB group for the class. It looks like we will also have a simple webpage (johannesclass2020.wixsite.com/candles) where we can consolidate all the information about the fundraiser and perhaps even display a graph with how things are progressing.
Contact info: Our group email address (JohannesClass2020@gmail.com) is preferred but if you have questions specific to one of the parent organizers then feel free to contact them directly.
Regards,
Johannes 4B Class Parents
